Our coltgap representative will meet you at the Kilimanjaro International Airport for the start of your adventure. You will be transferred to your place of accommodation in Arusha where you will undergo full introduction and orientation of the expedition to follow. You will meet our Pathfinders guide who will be accompanying you on this epic expedition. Here you will have the chance to ask questions, meet and interact with your fellow explorers and expedition leader. A good night’s sleep is required before you embark upon an adventure of a lifetime as we explore some of Africa’s greatest bush.

Daily Itinerary – in brief

  • DAY 1: Pick up and orientation in Arusha. Overnight at Ilboru Campsite (Upgrade to lodge possible)
  • DAY 2: 40-50 km cycle. Overnight at Mezerani Campsite
  • DAY 3: 30-50 km cycle. Overnight at local campsite
  • DAY 4: 60-80 km cycle. Overnight at Selela Forest Campsite.
  • DAY 5: Rest, walk, cycle and cultural day. Overnight at Selela Forest Campsite.
  • DAY 6: Game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Proceed into Serengeti National Park. Overnight at Seronera Campsite
  • DAY 7: Full day’s game drive in the Serengeti. Overnight at Seronera Campsite
  • DAY 8: Full day’s game drive in the Serengeti. Overnight at Lobo Campsite (Upgrade to lodge possible)
  • DAY 9: 40-50 km cycle. Overnight at local campsite
  • DAY 10: 50-100 km cycle. Overnight at tented camp, Lake Natron
  • DAY 11: Rest, village or waterfall walk, mountain climb, watching flamingos (Lake Natron). Overnight at tented camp.
  • DAY 12: Drive back to Arusha. Overnight at Arusha, lodge.
  • DAY 13: Free day to explore Arusha. Shopping etc. Transfer back to airport.

Expedition fee excludes

  • All items of a personal nature including flights, visas and travel insurance
  • Tips (to be paid by client to guides, drivers and cooks)
  • Personal equipment – sleeping bag, sleeping mat, 2/3 litre camelback, cycling shorts (baggy style recommended), clip-in shoes (if preferred) with own pedals, gel seats (if preferred), gloves etc
  • Expenditure on all drinks

Support

All of our crew (guides/drivers/cooks) are highly experienced with in depth knowledge of the bush and the surrounding wildlife.

Conditions

Please note that due to certain conditions (weather, overuse etc), roads/paths and campsites described in the itinerary might not be in suitable conditions. This is often unpredictable, and slight changes to the itinerary might have to be made en route. The Pathfinders crew will be responsible to make the final decision after liasing with the group. At all times the group’s safety will be ensured and the best interests and wishes of the group will be taken into consideration. We ask that you be flexible in this regard and work with the crew as a team to make such changes as easy and pleasurable as possible.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be as per itinerary above. Most nights will be spent camping, whereas the rest of the nights will be spent at tented camps and lodges.

Meals

All meals (except arrival day) are provided for your Mountain Bike expedition and are included in the expedition fee.
