Daily Itinerary
- 24th August (Day 1): Arrive at Nairobi Airport where you will be met by a Pathfinders representative and taken to your campsite and group meeting area. Once the whole group is assembled our guides will present you with important orientation information and further details relating to your safari.
- 25th August: Journeying North onto the edge of the Great Rift Valley, stunning views will accompany you on the drive towards Lake Nakuru National Park where you will camp for the next 2 nights. This lake offers one of the world's most spectacular wildlife sights, that of brilliant pink flamingos as far as the eye can see. There are often times when between one and two million lesser and greater flamingos feed around the shores of this shallow soda lake. Besides your usual impala and common plains game, other wildlife include buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, eland, lion, leopard and black rhino. It goes without saying that this is a bird watchers paradise.
- 27th August: Depart Nakuru for Amboseli National Reserve where you will spend the next 3 nights.
- 28th – 29th August: One of the most quintessential images of East Africa is that of a herd of elephant ambling across savannah plains with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro in the background. It is to catch this sight on memory and on film that people flood to Amboseli National Park. While Kilimanjaro is actually across the border in Tanzania, Amboseli has a perfect view of this world's tallest freestanding mountain, which towers an impressive 5km above the plains.
- 30th August: Depart Amboseli and return to Nairobi
- 31st August: Drive from Nairobi to the border of the Masai Mara National Reserve where you will camp the night.
- 1st September: Your exploration of the Masai Mara National Reserve begins! During this time of year you can expect to see the world famous spectacle of the Great Migration taking place. This is your chance to see TV documentaries come to life, and as with the rest of the safari, to photograph the scenes under the guidance of your professional photographic tutor Chris Scott
- 2nd & 3rd September: Spend the next two nights in a luxury Masai Mara tented safari camp
- 4th September: Depart from the Masai Mara and head back up the slopes of the Rift Valley to Nairobi. Shop for curios and prepare to bid farewell to Kenya… Fly home this evening or the following morning.
